AI for chronic pain management

Led by founders who served at the top IDF intel units, and driven by their personal experience with chronic pain.

The startup we feature this week addresses a huge problem - and market - chronic pain management. They are highly mission-driven due to the CEO’s personal experience in managing his chronic pain for over two decades.

The founders served in the IDF’s top intel units, served for many years in the IDF’s top technological units (81 & 8200), where they led groundbreaking projects in AI, DSP, and autonomous systems.

Their solution is implemented in pain clinics in the US and pilot sites in Israel.

Company name: Equanimity AI

What they do (in a sentence):

Revolutionize chronic pain management by integrating the biopsychosocial model into personalized, scalable care solutions.

Why now:
Chronic pain is the leading cause of disability worldwide, with its prevalence rising in recent years due to aging populations and lifestyle factors. Despite this, current care models remain fragmented and ineffective for long-term outcomes.
The market for Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM) in chronic pain is still a blue ocean, offering significant potential to lead the space. With reimbursement frameworks now incentivizing RTM adoption, the timing is ideal to bring our solution to market.

  • The CEO, Erez Levanon, founded Equanimity AI based on his experience in managing chronic pain for over two decades.

  • Erez and CTO and co-founder Samuel Hazak served for many years in the IDF’s top technological units (81 & 8200), where they led groundbreaking projects in AI, DSP, and autonomous systems.

  • Dr. William S. Rosenberg, a world-renowned expert in pain management for cancer patients, leads clinical strategy in the company.

  • An advisory board of globally recognized pain specialists.

Traction:

  • Launched a paid beta pilot with Brothers For Life, a leading organization for wounded veterans in Israel.

  • Integrated their “Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM)” program with the first customer, (Renew Pain Solutions), soon to onboard additional US clinics.

  • Early pilot completed, with results that indicate significant engagement and positive feedback, from patients and clinicians.

  • Partnerships with AWS and NVIDIA as part of the Inception program

Competitive edge/moats:

  • Proprietary AI-based technology, trained on a unique dataset that integrates physical, psychological, and social factors.
