Today’s startup is led by an IDF commando veteran, building a life-saving medical device addressing a need he encountered on the battlefield. Their innovative, patented device is approved for use by the Israeli ministry of health, is in production, and addresses a large market need.

Company name: TW Medical

What they do (in a sentence):

TW Medical developed an innovative tourniquet that effectively stops bleeding from both limbs and junctional areas – in one easy-to-use, compact, life-saving device. They are protected by international patents and approved for use by the Israeli Ministry of Health.

Why now:
Global defense and emergency sectors are investing heavily in life-saving technologies, as defense budgets are globally on the rise. Junctional bleeding remains a major cause of preventable death, and a practical field solution is lacking and needed.

Team highlights:

  • Yaakov Tsadik, CEO and co-founder, is an IDF Commando Unit veteran and a former Magen David Adom volunteer who experienced the need for an innovative tourniquet to save lives.

  • Dr. Giora Weiser, co-founder and medical director, is the director of the Department of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Shaare Zedek Medical Center. Giora serves in the reserves in the IDF as a physician in a medical platoon.

Traction:

  • Completed product development. The product underwent both a comprehensive clinical study and successful field testing.

  • Received ISO 13485 and AMAR regulatory approvals, as well as approval from the Israeli Ministry of Health.

  • Established a manufacturing line, began production, and made initial sales in Israel.

  • The product is FDA registered and is currently being evaluated by both the Israeli and U.S. militaries.

Competitive edge/moats:

  • Secured IP through patents (in Israel and internationally).

Capital raised: $200k raised to date.
